I project that Lily will see her father when he is on his deathbed.  They will have a heartfelt talk and  T. Ray will cry and tell her he loves her and that he’s sorry and then he will make a dramatic last breath and die.  Lily will become a writer/beekeeper.  She will write stories simular to the secret life of bees and noone will read them because noone likes those types of books.  Rosaleen will take May’s spot on Augusts Bee farm and get married to an attractive black man in town.  Lily and Zach have a heart crushing breakup and Zach ends up getting shot because he is a black lawyer.

I would describe Lily and Zach’s relationship as growing.  They obviously like each other.  Lily says she thinks about him 40 minutes out of every hour.  She wishes he would kiss him.  The thing that drew them together was that Zach is extremely handsome.  Lily did not know that white people could think African Americans were attractive.  She obviously has proved herself wrong.  I am definitely rooting for there relationship to blossum because it would be extremely rebelious for them to go out.

I had never heard of kneeling on grits before.  In fact, i have never even heard of grits.  From what i understand, it sounds very painful and punnishing.  Lily has many great qualities that help her persevere through the intense pain she feels.  One of these qualities is courage.  Lily is strong from having been made fun of and living an entire childhood without a mother figure.  She also has anger.  This anger helps fight the pain because she doesn’t want to give T. Ray the satisfaction of seeing her suffer.
